Marketing is a Daily Requirement

As we roll through the recession, I’ve been thinking about what big stuff I’ve learned and observed while consulting and speaking across the US.

My list grows, but one top observation regarding almost every organization I’ve spent time around, large and small, nonprofit and for-profit, (heck, even my own country club) stands out above the rest – the lack of REGULAR, ONGOING, DAILY MARKETING ACTIVITY.

When meeting a prospect for the first time I always ask, “What do you DO exactly?” The answer repeatedly comes back in some form like:

* We publish books for the Christian marketplace.
* We develop solutions for radiologists.
* We do landscaping.
* We design and manufacture garage doors.
* We create and manage trade shows for the XYZ industry.

The fact is, these answers are not the primary business for these organizations. The correct answers should be:

* We market books that we publish for the Christian marketplace.
* We market solutions that we develop for radiologists.
* We market our landscaping services.
* We market garage doors that we design and manufacture.
* We market trade shows that we create and manage for the XYZ industry.

This is not just semantics I’m talking about here. This is important. Filling the funnel of future customers should be Job One of every organization every single day. Peter Drucker said the purpose of business is to create a customer and the first function is marketing. I would go a step farther and say the purpose of business is to create and maintain long-term, profitable relationships.

Yet almost all of us fall into the daily trap of confusing busyness with effectiveness. Our To-Do lists, voicemail, and email overflow with items marked “Urgent!” We dutifully tend to these tasks that, more often than not, have nothing to do with creating new business. The Tyranny of the Urgent, it’s called.

It’s cliche to say there’s a big difference between something that’s Urgent and something that’s Vital. Of course we know that something Vital is more important than something Urgent. But the truth is, we get done what we think we should get done, and something marked “Urgent” sounds, well, urgent. Isn’t it interesting that we don’t have a button on our email or voicemail marked “Vital?”

What’s the answer? It’s a lot easier than you might think. Tomorrow morning when you start your work day, don’t even look at your To-Do list for the first hour. Invest that first hour on the Vital task of Marketing. Call two prospects and two current customers. Clip out an interesting article and send it to your top ten prospects with a note, “Thought you’d find this interesting.” Begin writing a whitepaper. Add an entry to that blog you’ve been meaning to start. Do something that markets your products or services. Heck, write and article and submit it here, like I did!

Make that first hour your daily Marketing Hour. Fill that funnel. Nurture a new relationship. And be vicious with that time. Don’t let somebody take that away from you with something they think is Urgent. Remember what Drucker said.

Marketing is VITAL.

Forex Day Trading – Learn to Read Your Daily Market

Don’t try to set a goal of a specific number of pips per day. The market changes constantly and trying to set certain restrictions on your Forex day trading may cause you to lose the gains from the day or days before.

Start with your mind open and go with the flow. Watch carefully how the market is progressing. Sometimes the market is in the process of consolidating. If a system is consolidating there will probably be less opportunities to increase your earnings.

Learn how to spot when the merging is finished. Sometimes this will lead to a trending day and a lot of money can be made on these days. Sometimes the market will try to fake you out with head fakes or false moves, so watch your indicators closely if divergence happens between the indicator and the price, be careful. Only do a technical trade when you can get a true confirmation.

When a price moves outside of a consolidation it’s called a candle. The best thing to do is wait until that candle closes before you make a trade. Then analyze the closed candles carefully to make a more informed and intelligent trade. When you get the hang of this you will have more profit making trades. These trending days are usually the results of a newsflash that a currency has risen. This newsflash can be from some federal officer or government agency, which can cause a change in the worth of the currency.

The consolidation may break right before this news is broadcasted or posted on news sites. The anticipation causes the breakout. You can tell by the tight range on the charts. It is usually a good idea to wait and hear the anticipated news before you trade.

Do some research in the beginning. Watch the currency through a few days before you start trading. Find out what is the average low and average high, for certain pairs, because each currency has a normal high a low range and you can calculate an average. Back test, by looking at the currency on prior days or maybe even weekly trends. Get your averages down. Once you do the range will be slightly higher when the market comes out of consolidation and you can make some extra pips that day if the market goes into trending mode.

Have a strong trading method, back testing is very important to make an intelligent decision on what to and what not to trade. At the end of the week of trading do an analysis to learn where your stop levels should be. If retractions are larger than you anticipated, don’t trade, just watch until the market becomes more fluid and consistent.

Choosing not to trade when the conditions are not stable can be as important as trading. It doesn’t hurt to step back and watch the markets to make more informed decisions on trading. It’s not a bad idea to chart movements of the currency you want to trade. Knowledge is king; in Forex day trading it is a must. Doing your research is not a waste of time, but if you don’t study diligently, you could be wasting your time but most importantly your profits.

2. A good looking website designed around your product.

Finding A Great Product

The first thing you won’t to do is find out what kind of product you won’t to market on the internet. There’s two ways you can do this you either develop your own product or you can market someone else product. I recommend you market someone else product at first until you make a name for yourself on the internet, because it’s a lot easier and you can start making money right away. Do some research before you choose your product because you won’t to market a product that’s in high demand.

Developing A Website Around Your Product

If you decided to create your own product you must create your own website around that product, but if you decided to market someone else product then you have the choice to use there website or develop your own branding yourself around there product.

Developing A Daily Marketing Plan

Once you find your product and build your website the final thing you must do is marketing or advertise your website so people can see your website, and learn about your product then purchase your product. Most people fail at this step because they don’t know how to market correctly. The first thing you must do before marketing your website is do some research on internet marketing find out what works and what doesn’t. The next thing you won’t to do is develop a daily marketing plan that consist of daily task to do to get traffic to your website. One quick and easy way to market your website is by writing articles.
